Stock currently at Wabtec, Doncaster?

Hi all,

When passing Donny on the 18th of March on the Highland Chieftain, I noticed a 465/466 at Wabtec along with an AGA 90.

Could anyone say what these were an why they are there?

Was the 90 a blue one with the union flag on the side? if so it could be 90009.

Currently two 465s there (which is unusual). 465239 finished its works recently but didn't return when it should have, so it has been sitting around for a week or two now and is probably the one you saw. 465911 is also there, but being worked on currently so probably out of sight.

90009 with the union flag is also there.

Considering all the work on 465/66s was supposed to be done before the franchise originally ended (a fair time ago now before it was renewed) why has this taken so long?

Not only is the class 465 work way behind schedule but what is taking so long? Re-painting shouldn't take so long and nothing seems to be happening internally. I havn't been on a 465/0/1/2 post re-painting that wasn't very scruffy inside. 25 years old and they deserve more.

I wish they'd make them 2x2 throughout for more space and stick in air con like their sister trains 165's had. Something worthwhile. No chance though with the govt not doing much for the areas served by them.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the only rolling stock with bit's of Network South East left in it - I.e the floor and probably most of the interior bar seat covers?

The seven (not long remaining) LM 321s, slightly older but unrefurbished and still sporting NSE fittings to this day; these units are oft mentioned.

Though I wouldn't be surprised to find 'toothpaste' insignias and other little crumbs dotted about.

Why on earth would you want air-con like 165s had? Maybe you mean 166s but, either way, air-con that works and has some sort of vaguely cooling effect would surely be preferable? If not, better to leave it as is.
