This has been mentioned before among a 700 post thread about a sticky for job vacancies. Is it possible to start a sticky that you subscribe to, to get email alerts but is strictly for job vacancies and does not turn into a conversation that becomes too much to sift through?
I have missed another opportunity as have many others due to vast threads that became huge discussions!!
I personally would pay a fee to help with the moderation costs and upkeep of the thread. Cheers

Please ignore my ranting blame game!! My own fault, ye snooze ye lose......

The staff team are currently considering options for this idea. I'd highlight Jordy's request for anyone interested in maintaining such a sticky to send him a PM.

Before I start, I don't want to appear to be moaning or whinging etc. I just don't believe that you can't blame a forum and all its 'posters' for you missing an opportunity.

I like the idea of a "One Stop Shop", but what intrigues me is how you managed to miss this opportunity when, if you took the time, all the TOC's & FOC's post their vacancies on their own websites.

I look at all the relevant companies for me everyday on more than one occasion and see jobs advertised on there. More often than not, these are removed within 24 hours, for example the FTPE driver roles.

So If there happens to be a thread with only vacancies advertised on it, what happens if you miss these roles? Who is to blame then?

Just a thought...

Totally agree..when I was looking out of interest I made an excel spreadsheet with all the companies and what they were doing recruitment wise.

Someone else to make the effort for them is more apt, everyone else take responsibility.

I also made all the TOCs recruitment pages load up whenever I opened chrome, doesn't get any easier than that and you won't miss anything, someone invariably makes a thread here anyway, if that thread develops to a point where you can't see the wood for the trees and you only notice it at that stage, you'll have missed it anyway.

Sign up for job alerts with the TOCs careers page? They're all miles ahead having to trust someone to manage a forum thread. The job I got was advertised for less than 24 hours, if you're a serious candidate you won't rely on this forum getting you the heads up first off..

To the OP who'd pay money..really? People will pay anything to get out of doing the work themselves, sorry if that is an unfair judgement but it really isn't difficult with a bit of initiative.

Drop me a PM if you want my blank excel spreadsheet with all the TOCs and their recruitment pages, all you have to do is manage it and you've got exactly what you want. I do like the idea but in practice it wouldn't work and is more effort than looking on a recruitment page itself.

I didn't blame anybody! I certainly don't hold this forum accountable for my misfortune. I also don't expect to be notified by this forum about vacancies, it was just an idea to help everyone out, so get off my case.
I signed up for alerts on the First website and never received the email. Tough **** I know, but that's how it rolls. I was under false impression that the Central belt Toc's had finished with recruiting after the last load but I've only MYSELF to blame for not being vigilant.

No one is on your case but we only read what you post and

....seems pretty much like you're 'blaming' the forum?

Regardless of huge discussions the opening post is usually a link and information regarding said job, are you sure you're not looking enough?

It is indeed how it rolls, checking with your own eyes is the only way I'd trust getting the chance to secure myself this awesome job.

How much does it mean to you?

Yeah ok I get it, it does come across as though I'm on the blame wagon. I didn't mean for it to sound like that! I apologise to all. Good luck

Just to give you guys a heads up. I emailed careers@first to see why I never received an alert and if they're likely to recruit in the near future. This is the response:

Thank you for your email. We had to close the advert early due to
receiving over 1000 applications. Given this level of interest we are
unlikely to be needing to recruit again in the near future.

Back to the grind I suppose.....

This is my last post on this balls-up by me. I was on the First website daily after I missed the recruitment drive. I signed up to alerts from the First site in case any jobs came up again. It was a fair assumption that it would be quite some time until another load came up for training, so I didn't go on every day. Maybe three times a week or so. I wasn't on the site this week and I didn't get an email. I got a heads up from here, I was too late and missed it by a few hours!

I feel totally ****e about missing what could be the last recruitment for many years. I really don't need anymore God damn bashing, thanks.

TBH, and this is not a dig at you Jamieson because there's another thread elsewhere about job vacancies. If anyone can't be bothered looking at TOC and FOC websites themselves then it smacks of laziness to me.

I check daily the ones I'm closest to, have seen job ads early morning and applied then come on here hours later to see someone has posted the job ad up and honestly thought.....why do I bother ??
If you haven't got the initiative or drive to look for yourself for ANY job then sorry I for one wouldn't employ you !!

Can we get a Sticky for people who are willing to sit all the tests for someone??? I don't agree with an unfair advantage.
