This doesn't surprise me considering the location ie Greater Manchester. A socially inadequate county with no hope, I'm afraid. (I say this as a White Rose)

I do agree with one of the commenters. The idiot minority do get a disproportionate amount of media coverage which always makes the problem appear worse than it actually is, though I do not agree that this country is in a terrible state. Yes, things could be better, but even if all 12 year olds sat upright in class and shut their mouths until it was necessary, things could still be better.

I think this has to be chalked down to experience. If the correct people take it seriously enough, the problem will get tackled. The idiotic element will always exploit areas where talk is loud but action is feeble. A small change in attitude would eliminate the problem. Sadly, I do not hold much hope for the Reds.

Terrible. But as others on this forum know better than I, its not a new problem. I was reading a book recently on GJ Churchward, and he once had to write a letter to Eton to ask them to not reprimand his nephew too much, who was found along with 2 other Etonians trying to drop rocks down the chimney of some locomotives, among them apparently his own Great Bear. This must have been sometime in the early 20s.

Just goes to show, education is no guarantee against stupidity.

A sad incident but one that does not suprise me to be honest. I have regularly seen 'chavs' if you like hanging around and walking lineside at the ELR towards the end of the day, remember bellowing at a group of them going for an evening stroll down the track somewhere near Rammy last year at 109's debut gala as we headed back on the last trip. Also saw one clown there last year pushing his bike down the track on the approach to the compund at Bury, what the point of that was when he could have probably rode it quicker down the road than bounce it along the ballast i do not know, but he was bellowed at by some people on the train. Not only the ELR that has problems though, working down SVR last August in the C&W workshops several coaches required a new window during the time I was there due to the kiddies getting bored.

Totally stupid and reckless but what can be said.

I have to admit, as bad as it is, I chuckled somewhat at the line "Luckily there was a ricochet on the side of the cab before it hit me in the head". That is the first time ever that I have heard a ricochet described as lucky, normally they are rather unlucky.

This driver was saved solely by the fact that the windscreen did not give way completely, otherwise we could have been looking at a fatality. The poor bugger was only a trainee as well doing his front-end turns, so hadn't been with the company much more than a month.
