Steam traffic on the M5

This morning the Collet Goods 0-6-0 was spotted on a low loader heading south. This afternoon, on the same motorway Duke of Gloucester was on a low loader heading north, followed about half an hour later by another low loader with a GWR pannier tank on it.

Any ideas of destinations?

Any ideas of destinations?

The Collet was probably 3205 going from the SVR back to the South Devon Railway. Duke of Gloucester is probably going from Bristol to the GCR. I'm not sure about the pannier tank but may have been 9466.

Do these transfers really have to be by road when many of these railways or rail linked?

I was thinking that, especially for the Duke which is mainline certificated. I guess it depends on wether the railway its come from/ going to has a mainline connection.

Yes, it was that Collet, I believe there is only one of those remaining, but I don't remember it's number.

The Great Central Railway isn't mainline connected yet. It is often cheaper to move the locos by road. Locos such as 3205 arn't mainline registered.
