Steam Tours at the Weekend.

Good evening,

Does anyone know if RTC's 3 steam tours, to Weymouth, Holyhead & York to Carlisle on Sunday 28 July ran ok with steam traction or were they diesel hauled/assisted owing to possible NR concerns about steam trains being a fire risk owing to the hot & dry weather conditions at the moment.? (I see one of their trips has been cancelled on 09 August.)

All being well I am booked on the Waverley on 11 August.

Thanks, at least running the trains this way is better than having them totally cancelled.

I went on the Waverley train on Sunday 11 Aug. It did run ok and was hauled by steam loco, "The Scots Guardsman" which ran very well throughout the day, although there was a diesel behind the steamer. I don't think the diesel had to work too much.

There was a photo of the train in Monday's Daily Telegraph infact.

That was an interesting day to travel as it was the 45th anniversary of the last steam train to run on BR. On our homeward journey, there were 2 steam locos just outside Carlisle station that were going to haul another train back over the S&C, that train passed us shortly after as we left Carlisle hauled I think by "Oliver Cromwell" (and with no diesel I noticed.)
