Hi all

As i am going on this tour on Saturday, i just wondered if anyone knew which steam loco it will be out of these three- 5521, L44, 9466.

And also, which class 20 and will Sarah Siddons be on the train.

I am under the impression that all three are working and are swapping over during the Amersham layovers?

That's what I thought as well. Unfortunately, when I looked a few weeks back, there was no info as to which loco would work which train though.

Does anyone know where the "spare" steam locos are being kept before they change over their turns? From the website & the UK steam info site the steam runs head north then the returns south are with Sarah & the 20. Would be handy to know if they are doing the change overs between Met 1, pannier & prairie at Amersham or HOTH. Cheers.

The loco swaps are at Amersham, the train is being drawn into the south siding to do this.

S Stock on turnaround is using the north siding as normal, but when the steam is due the S is being held in the siding until departure time instead of sitting in the platform for ages so as not to obstruct the view of platform 2, which the steam is using.

Be aware, though, Met 1 has apprently had a serious white metal bearing failure after a lubrication problem so only 9466 and 5521 will be in use for Sunday and Monday.

A bearing failure would explain the very worried group surrounding Met 1 yesterday afternoon. If it was that serious how can it be towed at a line speed that won't delay service trains ? I didn't hang around long enough to see the 20+Met1+20 arrive back at Harrow o t Hill so would be interesting how it was rescued. Cheers.

34 Road at Amersham.

Luckily Met 1 failed whilst at Amersham to the loco was just changed over. If the failure means that the loco cannot be transported at line speed it'd just wait 'till engineering hours and publish an additional last train. As it happens nothing did run in E/H last night (I was the night man), so I imagine it's either still at Amersham or was brought down in consist.
