I saw a steam loco (minus tender) on the back of a lorry about half an hour ago, on the M27 heading westbound. It was about where the M3 and M27 meet. Unfortunately as I was driving I couldn't really get a good look.

Does anyone know anything about it and where it may have been going?

The home of 34053 is the Swanage railway, and it was announced in November that it would be coming back following the shortage of steam locos last year - due to arrive at the end of the year.

With the extended loan of 41312, the Winter Warmer (28/12) had three steam - the "U-boat" and the T9 - and one diesel (6515). Apparently some five months work went into the T9 - with more to follow and "at least the cylinder block is in one piece" was commented by a train crew

Are the various parts of 34028 now at Herston and has 34070 gone to Tysley as announced at the same time? The proposal was to have 34028 back in steam in about a year's time - towards the end of this year, while progress continues on 34010 whose frames were on display at Corfe last year's Strictly Bulleid. Apparently it can't be a naughty boy, because it doesn't have a tender behind....
