Good photo though. The main reason/ at least one why the Side plate numbers arn't on is incase they get stolen, the same reason as for the Nameplates. Also to keep them in a safe place to aviod getting damaged etc.

of course forgot about the high value of locomotive name and number plates. so makes perfect sense. If i am honest its not the best photo as was a bit rushed, maybe it will be easier to photograph at Bishops Lydeard next time I go.
