Surely Box Tunnel is in a completely different county? This will be one of the locomotives from the Strategic Reserve that is stored in a siding off Box Tunnel.
I’m with you on thinking it’s a model. Its covered in 'Christmas' lights.
Looks like a wooden model used in a carnival of light parade?
Spare from the 'Titfield Thunderbolt'?I’m with you on thinking it’s a model.
The coupling rods and motion look no more than wooden mockups. Diiltto its chimney, buffers, boiler pipework and pseudo-lights.It’s a model. It’s more than likely sitting on a road trailer of some description.
Once the Box Strategic Reserve became widely known Security required a dispersal of the stock to more obscure sites.Surely Box Tunnel is in a completely different county?:
That was a good example of "thinking out of the Box"Once the Box Strategic Reserve became widely known Security required a dispersal of the stock to more obscure sites.
If it is a model, it does seem strange to go to the trouble of creating outside cylinders and valve gear, fitting a brake pump and putting some detail on the footplate, but not bothering with a chimney, dome or cab. That was a good example of "thinking out of the Box".
Seriously though, if someone needs a model of a steam engine I'd have thought they'd go for a more obviously mainstream subject that had the general proportions people would expect of such a thing.
Not sure about an offset, but the whole machine is at a very odd angle, especially if it is the weight of the real thing. An improbable degree of cant on the track! Is it me or does the "Boiler" appear offset to the left?
