Windsor & Eton Riverside/Central. Why can't they name Riverside Windsor Station and Central Eton Station? It confuses me everytime I go there.

Probably something to do with ETON being on the other side of the Thames?

That's why I said Windsor & Eton Central. It IS on the other side of the river...

Eh? Central and Riverside are on the same side of the river, and Riverside is the one closer to Eton.

While some of the above were named with the link to the Great Central in mind the logic breaks down for many of them.
The stations at New Mills and Wath were only named Central by British Railways in the early 1950s. Gainsborough acquired the suffix in 1923 when the LNER needed to differentiate its two stations in the town.
Liverpool (1874), Manchester (1880), Wrexham (1887), Widnes (1879), Warrington (1873), Rotherham (1868) Centrals were all called Central when they opened at the same time as the railways. The Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway was still many years from changing its name (1897) when these railways opened.
The ones on the London Extension seem to have opened with the Central suffix but this was after the name change. Perhaps the railway was named after the stations rather than the other way round!

...it aint broke (but we are interested and open to any suggestions that might make it better and more understandable to the customers who use it.)

I agree with Chester Road, after all, it starts where the A452 crosses the M42 by the NEC, winds through a few 'B' Roads, rejoins the A452 where it crosses the M6 and ends where it meets th A5 in Brownhills. The average person going to a business along there for whatever reason could get a shock when the find they have to get a taxi from the station to the far end

This is true, but there is one thing that supports the station name Chester Road. Courtesy of the presence of the station, that general area has in some contexts actually gained the name "Chester Road". I agree that it would have been a problem when new (and not much better now) though, so I would like to propose a renaming. Unfortunately, the best name is Wylde Green - but that could then be renamed Boldmere. Alternatively, we could go for Erdington North, and then rename Erdington to any of Erdington Town, Erdington Green, Erdington Central or Erdington High Street.

As others have said, Riverside is actually closer to Eton than Central. If a renaming had to be staged, which I would not be in favour of, I would propose that Central becomes Windsor Central and Riverside becomes Windsor Riverside (for Eton). In practice, they are better left alone.
