Station transfer times

Does anybody know what the official transfer time is between Manchester Victoria and Oxford Rd?

My journey yesterday was Halifax to Sankey, catching the 16:54 Halifax-Victoria, then the 18:16 Oxford Road-Liverpool (stopping at Sankey). It usually takes me about 20 minutes to walk from Victoria to Oxford Rd and I usually arrive there at about 17:58ish. Yesterday, there were delays and the train didn't arrive in Victoria till 17:58! I missed the 18:16 and ended up catching an EM train to Warrington, which made me an hour late.

The question is, is this a valid combination of journeys, or are you supposed to allow more than 35 minutes for Victoria-Oxford Rd transfers?

Does the timetable actually have a transfer time to Oxford Road? It's not in the electronic data (presumably to encourage journey planners to send passengers to Piccadilly instead, the intention being that the Metrolink is used)

To Piccadilly, the required interval is 37 minutes, so I doubt it would be lower to Oxford Road (5 minutes navigating Victoria, 22 minutes for the tram (!), 10 minutes making the torturous ascent of the escalator at Piccadilly)

This is what NRE says. It looks a bit optimistic to me!

Realistically, walking to Oxford Road gives you more chance of catching that train than shuffling around Salford - I'm just not sure if doing so leaves you eligible to claim for a delay. You could try doing so and giving Northern your itinerary, and letting them decide

Just a thought: How long does a tram take from Manchester Victoria to Deansgate?



Although that would of course be useless for any instance where the train from Oxford Road is one of those that non-stops at Deansgate... However in this case it is a Deansgate train involved, so...
