Okay I put loop holes because this may be the answer to my question but.............
Why is Water Orton and coleshill parkway owned by LM but only XC services call there I understand that Water Orton was a former Central trains Station and that most of them went to LM but it Isn't even in the WMPTE area I think well a day tripper doesn't get you there.

You're correct. Water Orton isn't in the WMPTE area.

As for it being managed (not owned) by London Midland, along with Coleshill Parkway, this dates from a rather bizarre setup from privatisation whereby the XC franchise holder is not to manage stations. Virgin XC didn't manage any stations, although they did provide customer assistance at Birmingham New Street (and maybe some other places?) which has been taken over by CrossCountry.

On the same line there are also places like Narborough (managed by EMT who don't stop there AFAIAA).

Same with Hinckley. Always thought it strange it was managed by EMT but on served by XC

Yeah was gonna ask about stations between peteborough and Leicester as I seen a few with EMT branding but thought maybe EMT serves them.

cause if you ask any Water Ortoner (formally myself) We all tend to just think it is just there under it's own accord.

It's all set up to prevent the requirement of XC having to have a group station manager in charge of fairly minor stations over a fairly wide area.

Hence London Midland runs Water Orton, Coleshill Parkway, Wilnecote, Tamworth and Nuneaton (although it does at least serve the last two every so often now and regularly from December).

EMT run Burton on Trent, Willington, Hinckley, Narborough, South Wigston, Melton Mowbray, Oakham and Stamford. The last 3 are served a couple of times a day by EMT, EMT will cease to serve Burton and Willington from December.

Manea station is operated by NXEA by only served by Cross Country.

Dronfield station is also ran by Northern Rail and served by Cross Country.

So when Kenilworth is opened (if it does) will that be owned by XC as they are the ones asking to have it opened although im sure the local council will be backing the proposal also.

Lockerbie by FSR is another famous example, which could easily be reversed by adding a Caledonian Sleeper stop. That's a particularly odd one, seeing as it's always been that way and is so far away from other FSR stations.

It does seem at times just a little more thought could be put into the franchises ECT.
Just the right combination and hey presto a recipe for success.

The Heathrow Express stations at Heathrow aren't either, IIRC. Although they aren't used by any franchised operations.

I was going to add that Southampton Eastern Docks Cunard Terminal station is owned by ABP but that's way too OTT.

I assume that Folkestone Harbour is still NR-owned or is it owned by the port owner?

Ryde Pier Head is owned by Wightlink I think as they own the pier.

I would also be interested to know who owns Lymington Harbour platform as that may well be Wightlink.

Not sure about that, I'm pretty sure Huddersfield isn't owned by Network Rail, could be wrong though.

They are all owned by Network Rail, they are operated by one company and pothers call there. Xc can ask for it to be opened, but since NR will be the ones who build and open it, they will assign the TOC which manages it.
