Station Nameboard Generator.

I have great pleasure in announcing that version 1.1 of my Station Nameboard Generator utility is now being offered for download at http://www.eezypeazy.co.uk.

With this tool developers can select the design corresponding to the TOC of their choice, type in the station name, then select the method of mounting of the nameboard, whereupon a sign will be produced in csv form to display in their route!

At present the utility covers the long type of nameboards and, even as I write, version 2 is being written covering further designs including LUL and BR "totem" styles.

Just make it into a 2 box name so the user types in whatever they want for the translation.

And if you're wanting to know the new ScotRail font, it's Officina Sans (Bold 370pt for main station names, Medium 225pt for subtitles, like Alight Here for...), with Officina Serif Book 370pt for Gaelic names.

The Generator automatically generates the csv files as well as the bitmaps.

Yes, sorry about that. My problem is that I haven't saved any screenies on the web, and RailUK apparently requires a URL to post images. Perhaps one day I shall bring myself to date with the modern world!

My intention is not to promote another forum here, as I personally use both for different aspects of our hobby, but yes, Gavelex is correct, all you need to do is register to view the images.

You can upload photos to RailUK, click "Go Advanced" or " "Post Reply", then scroll down and click "Manage Attachments".

Here are a few screenshots of version 2 of the SNG project, which has loads more facilities than version 1.

Firstly the menu screen, much tidier and user-friendly than before:

You can generate the same long nameboards as in version 1:

It features also a large welcoming running-in board:

You can also have a square, two-line board, which if you import as your own custom bitmap, can display each line in separate colours, as in this bi-lingual sample:

And, of course, by importing your own plain bitmaps, why not use the utility to produce signs other than nameboards?

I still have to add a few more graphics and to add the code to generate the csv files. These will be arranged such that the nameboard object will sit on a platform with the minimal amount of placing on the part of the developer! Then it will be over to the testers (you know who you are! ) and maybe there will be an extra Christmas present this year. (Apart from those who don't believe in Santa, of course! )
