As a Guard myself I can't honestly agree with that. They certainly are the sort of people who can make the job harder than it needs to be, and they're most definitely a pain in the a*se, but what we've seen recently regarding Guards and prison was, regretfully, ultimately down to the Guard and not the passengers. Harsh, but it's what we're paid well for.

Falling over on an escalator is very dangerous as well, where it meets the floor at the other end to turn back round, you could easily get things trapped in there or get scraped by it and then you could fall back down again for it to keep happening. That's happened to a parent of a former friend who suffers epilepsy and while having a fit on an escalator in a shopping center, did exactly that. His face has a massive scar right across his cheek and has been blinded in one eye and a skin graft on his leg, all because of being scraped away at the end and then fall down to the bottom to be dragged up again. Very dangerous and not funny at all.

As for falling over on the platform, that too is dangerous, what if they have fallen onto the track in horrible crap from a train toilet and oil and even worse, a train to come and cut them up. Very stupid and people should watch themselves when they are out and about, and even if you're drunk, you still have a tiny bit of common sense to call a taxi

Oh god I hope there isn't footage on the stair case off of platform two at Bath Spa from Monday, I 'fell' down the staircase with my crutches. Not alcohol related, more station manager related.

I was drunk on a train (as a passenger!) last weekend. Missed my stop. Shoot me. The videos are there to highlight the extra care you need to take and the risks of drunken behaviour in a dangerous environment. There are certainly plenty of modifications to my behaviour I make if I decide to travel home by train after having had a few. For a start, I won't run, I won't go anywhere near a platform edge, and I'll wait well away from passing trains - in a waiting room if possible.
