Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and finding it really interesting so far.
I've worked in the railway for almost 7 years as a guard and lately I've been feeling like it's time to change direction - so a couple of months ago I applied to the job of the Station Controller at Charing Cross with Southeastern (this is the job description if anyone's interested https://jobs.southeasternrailway.co.uk/jobs/job/Station-Controller/52)
I got through the assessment day and now I've been invited to an interview next week which I'm dead excited for but also quite nervous - I would love this role, it genuinely looks perfect for me and I really want it.
I've been told that I need to prepare a short presentation called 'The role of the Station Controller: how it's changed over the years and how I'd improve it' - I quite like delivering presentations so I'm looking forward to it BUT upon doing hours of research I'm finding it quite challenging to find any info about the job over the years. I'm aware that it might be under a different job title at different TOCs.
I thought I'd reach out on here to see if anyone would be able to help. Has anyone on here been a Station Controller before? Looking at the job description do you think it might have been under a different title in the past?
Would love some help - also interested to hear peoples' views and experiences of working at Southeastern (I've been at a different TOC the past 7 years).
Cheers.
