He means if his guess at mine was correct, DNO is now the one to guess :)

I've looked it up and it's indeed a correct code, although it rules me out for this one.

I will now answer your question. I did not recognise EAS as a currently open station, so I thought that I had better cast my search further. I am well aware of the rules of this quiz and do not need to be reminded of the fact.

I did not access any computer base in making a "tentative" answer. I do have a book with all the names of closed stations, but none of these have any three letter codes. All they have is the name of the company that opened the station and the opening date, any subsequent change of owning company, finally the date of closure. From a cursory glance at closed stations beginning with "E", I felt that the station that nearest met the clue of EAS was Earlston that was opened by the Berwickshire Railway and finally closed in 1965. Again, I reiterate that I was not in knowledge of any 3 letter code for this station.

You need to see posting # 784 on this quiz where I said the name of the station and then qualified it by adding "...not really sure of this. I then made a next clue of DNO...but then added that this was only to be the next clue if my answer was correct.

I am very annoyed that a certain member of this forum has made comments on how I have conducted myself and of my reasoning abilities in an attempt to have solved a quiz clue. It would have been in poor taste to have made one comment, but then to follow that comment with a further comment is unforgiveable.

Fair enough (but bearing in mind that the current TLCs didn't exist until the Nineties).

I'm confused by that last part - did you mean me?
