I noticed on Diamond Geezer's tube map analysis that Paddington Bakerloo and Caledonian Road stations are closed for a while this year. Can't find anything on the TfL website as to why, so just wondering (as an infrequent commuter at these stations!) what's afoot.

The TfL Station Closures document for Cally Road just says "Station Closed", and Paddington isn't even mentioned.

Perhaps interestingly, Paddington Bakerloo will be closed a week after Easter. As there will be few commuters on Good Friday 25 March or Easter Monday 28 March, the "delay" to the closure until April seems surprising.

Speculation: Is a closure of Paddington Bakerloo related to linking in the pedestrian tunnel from the Crossrail station?

Yes, I know the two stations are closed - my question is why. I see that Tubeboy has said that Cally Road is lift refurb (it'll be interesting to see if one remains quicker than the other!), now just wondering about Paddington.

Edwin is correct re Paddington. There will be a link from the Bakerloo to the new Crossrail platforms. To facilitate this, the platforms need to be closed.

According to the Standard Caledonian Road closure has been cancelled and they are looking at doing the refurbishment while the station is open.

I believe the plan is to entirely replace both lifts at Caledonian Road. They're currently powered from the traction current, and are the only such examples on the network. They're also impressively unreliable.

It's Caledonian Road that has two "spare" lift shafts isn't it? Think there's been a lot of suggestions of "install two new lifts in the empty shafts"

Especially of Pentonville Prison is to be replaced by housing, as I believe is currently planned.
