Station Cats

Are you sure that's not just a local cat that's wandered out onto the tram stop? All of the Metro stops are unmanned so it's not like any of them can care for a cat and provide for one.

I think most of the examples given on this thread will be cats who live near the stations, rather than living within station buildings and being looked after by station staff as at Huddersfield.

I had a chat with a South Parkway gate line lady last week about Paul. She told me he comes from a house over the road, where there are several other cats. I guess he comes to the station because he doesn't like all the competition at home. She also said he sleeps at the station overnight, so I imagine he rarely goes "home", if at all. There was a food dish near his bed so he must be fed there. Such a shame Virgin took his comfy cube seat away when their trains had stopped turning there. There was a thread on Twitter about how we could get it back for him, but it hasn't happened .

A friend that uses Baildon station reports that there is a station cat there called Bella.

Stourbridge has George the Station cat (quite often doing a shift at the booking office catching some shut eye)

TPE have employed a new Huddersfield trainee pest controller to eventually take over from Felix. Bolt is 8 weeks old. Brilliant example of succession planning!

"Young Bolt will take some knocking into shape and it'll be great to have an understudy given the amount of pests we have to deal with down here."

Ours is a (hungry) visitor who will bring us presents! She apparently has got a home and a owner in the estate near the station who knows all about her hanging out and being friendly to all the customers at the station. Shes also got someone in the houses on the other side of the tracks to the estate who will feed her, shes been spotted in the hairdressers on the station, the pub nearby and the car park attendant opposite will feed her out his sandwiches as well. Shes clearly got quiet a big patch sown up and will chase off other cats from the station trying to muscle in! She usually appears just after we get here- the security alarm beeper being her breakfast call.
