The particularly irritating announcement sometimes heard at SWT stations which goes along the lines of "The next train at platform X, for the XX.XX service to..."

It would be better to say something like "The XX.XX train for XXXX is now boarding at platform X". This gets the attention of the people who want that train, before the information is provided on where to catch it.

I was at Luton Airport Parkway this weekend, and it didn't seem that well designed for flyers with luggage. Lots of tall staircases and escalators, but only a few slow lifts.

The gateline had lots of narrow gates and only two wide gates, and because virtually every passenger had large luggage, they all had to use the wide gates. One of the gates was set in each direction, and only one of them was manned, and the assistant was checking railcards too, so it was a bit of a bottleneck!

A general point about new-build or rebuilt stations from personal experience is that they tend to be designed by architects with virtually no input from people like station managers who have the experience to know what is required.
An example of the sort of thing I mean is benches and waiting shelters being spaced evenly along a platform so they look nice, rather than being placed in the areas where they are actually needed, dictated by the positions of the car stop boards.
