Salford Crescent is also a two-platform station that was opened in 1987.
Ivybridge is also a station with two platforms opened in 1848.
Sorry, but I don't think this is valid. The original Ivybridge station, which did open in 1848, closed nearly 50 years ago. I could have told you even without looking it up that the current Ivybridge station only opened in 1994.
As a precaution, I shall choose something simple that links both Alsager and Ivybridge, and is easy to continue from: Urmston is another two-platformed station whose name begins with a vowel.
