I think the hourly Manchester Airport - Manchester Piccadillly service mainly runs to serve the towns in between e.g. Gatley, Burnage, Mauldeth Road, East Didsbury, Heald Green etc, and to add to the Crewe - Manchester Piccadilly via Airport service. It's not specifically branded, unlike Heathrow/Stanstead/Gatwick Express.

From Manchester Oxford Road, I can associate that Hazel Grove is another station in Greater Manchester to be served by East Midlands Trains (albeit a limited service).

Haddiscoe is a station that is actually nearer to another town; as is Pershore station, which is actually in the town of Pinvin.

Altnabreac is another absolutely hilariously isolated station, with about 3 services a day, the station being a request stop and the nearest road being about four miles away.
