No, this was related to the post with stations ending in '-wich'. Which was invalid anyway, due to posting at the same time.

Sorry to say, but some of the recent replies led me to think that I was on the Settlement Association quiz rather than the Station Association quiz.

Chester and Cardiff Central are both seven-platform stations.

No only CrossCountry! I know Arriva and First GW serve it but in terms of XC only 170s call (except for 1M25), like Cambridge.

It's not just 1M25, there's a return working from Manchester in the evening (1V65), which then goes on to form a service to Bristol only (1C00); 1M25 is also preceded by 1P00 from Bristol to Cardiff. All of those are 220s.

And in addition to that there's a 220 on a Cardiff-Nottingham diagram every now and again due to some kind of 170 shortage.

Maybe I've slightly confused some people. I know exactly what I mean because I am from Cardiff, born and bred and lived here all my life. I catch four trains a day, one of which is a 170.

If you look at CrossCountry's services, Newcastle for example is served solely by Voyagers (and the two HSTs), Cambridge is served by 170s only and Cheltenham for example is served by all four XC units.

Cardiff's main service pattern is the Cardiff-Nottingham, which is mainly served by 170s (maybe the use of the word entirely wasn't quite true with the exception of 1M25, 1V65, 1C00 and 1P00- these are only two Voyager units though) except for the 0700.

If you look at the Core on Wikipedia under CrossCountry, the Cardiff to Nottingham service is titled under Turbostars.

So basically, we were at Cambridge, which is served entirely by 170s and Cardiff which, let's say then to finish this, is MAINLY served by 170s.

So we are now associating something to do with Preston.

And just out of interest which Nottingham service is booked for a Voyager?
