Although no services are timetabled to do so, it is possible to reach Chester le Street from Dunston via the Norwood-Low Fell Jn Curve
Yarm is also skipped by Grand Central

At one time on could get a through train to Stranraer from Paisley Gilmour Street but nowadays on has to change at Ayr.

A long-closed branch line connected Glazebrook to Skelton Junction. If this line still existed today, the first station you'd reach would be Stockport

Amberley station was host to a Southern Railway camping coach from 1938 to 1939; Ashurst New Forest, then known as Lyndhurst Road, was also host to one of these from 1936 to 1939.
