Until the closure of the line to Low Gill Clapham was often referred to as the other Clapham Junction.

Clapham Junction famously is not in Clapham at all, but in the heart of Battersea. Perhaps less well known is that Penshurst is about two miles from that village and is actually in a settlement called Chiddingstone Causeway.

Penshurst is the second station from Tonbridge on the Redhill line. The second station from Tonbridge on the Hastings line is Tunbridge Wells.
