Basildon. Although a completely different set of circumstances, neither station was planned by the line's designers in the 1800s! (Basildon came about through the New Town scheme and was opened in 1974; Hall Road came about after the planned Crosby line was extended there after a local landowner pleaded with the company.)

Saffron Walden hasn't had a station it can call its own since the 60s ;) And Audley End doesn't count either, given its name...

From Green Road I shall choose the most boring answer possible: Green Lane.

Conwy.

A fortified town traditionally has walls and a castle.
Conwy's walls have survived almost intact.
And, as a tourist once said, the castle will be great when it's finished. :)

Harrow and Wealdstone.

[Taken me a whole day to think about this!]

"Men of Harlech" a song referring to the siege of Harlech Castle from 1461-1468], which I used to sing in the school choir in Halifax in the 1960s.

Apparently, that song is also the official School Song of Harrow School.

Hence, Harrow and Wealdstone. [Obvious, really. :D]

Barnstaple

Oldham has an area [and used to have a station] called "Mumps"
Thought to be derived from "Mumper" meaning "beggar"
John Gay wrote "The Beggar's Opera" in 1728.
Gay was a Son of Barnstaple, being born and educated there.

Grange Hill

Rochdale is the filming location, and setting of Waterloo Road.
Grange Hill shares it's name with a children's school drama series.
