Ruswarp (pronounced 'Russup') gave its name to a Border Collie dog owned by the late Graham Nuttall, a keen walker and pro-rail campaigner from Burnley, who was one of the founder members of the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle line. In 1990, Graham went missing while walking in the Welsh hills near Llandrindod. His body was found eleven days later with his - by now- hungry, thirsty and emaciated - faithful four-legged friend by his side. To mark the 20th anniversary of the reprieve of the Settle-Carlisle line in 2009, a bronze statue of Ruswarp was unveiled on the Up platform at Garsdale.
