Garswood is a boundary station for the Merseytravel ticketing area (and can be a handy spot for canny ticket splits for thrifty travellers).

Another station just within the Merseytravel ticketing area is Meols Cop.

Settle is the last station before Settle Junction on the line from Carlisle. The last station on the line from Carnforth is Giggleswick.

Before the service's demise at the time of COVID, the DalesRail weekend trains between Lancashire and the Settle & Carlisle line passed through Long Preston - albeit without stopping there (as far as I can tell from historic timetables).

Another station along the DalesRail route where the trains passed through without stopping was Cherry Tree.

Reading, alongside the previous two stations (Guildford and Redhill), is linked by the North Downs line, run by Great Western Railway semi-fast and stopping services. However, until the 2000s, CrossCountry used to operate a number of daily express services along the North Downs, with a reversal at Redhill, to reach Brighton.

Doncaster is also a DfT category B station managed by LNER.
