The Flying Scotsman service (not to be confused with the A3 locomotive named after it) is a named express by LNER operating between Edinburgh Waverley and London King's Cross, with the only intermediate stop being Newcastle.
Annan signal box unusually works to Dumfries in both directions but before double track was restored to Gretna Junction worked to Carlisle in that direction.
