Barnsley has seen its name changed four times (Barnsley upon opening, Barnsley Low Town, Barnsley Exchange, Barnsley, Barnsley Interchange), the same number of times Abercynon changed its name (Navigation House upon opening, Aberdare Junction, Abercynon, Abercynon South, Abercynon).

Like West Hampstead Folkestone West originally had a different name. West Hampstead was originally West End Lane and Folkestone West was originally Shorncliffe Camp later shortened to Shorncliffe.
