A considerable number of British railway stations were closed during 1917 as a World War 1 economy measure.

Possilpark & Parkhouse's predecessor was one of these, not re-opening (on a slightly altered site) until 1993.

Another 1917 closure casualty, but which re-opened in 1919, was St Leonards Warrior Square.

Perry Barr, which opened in 1837, is one of the oldest stations on the national network. One of the newest is Inverness Airport.

Although Collington is on the East Coastway and has an hourly service to London it only has a limited service to Brighton.
