Cardiff Queen Street is the first station from Cardiff Central on the Valley lines. Grangetown is the first station from Cardiff Central on the Vale of Glamorgan line.

Until its closure on 25 November 1991, there was another Grangetown station, which was the first station out of Middlesbrough on the line to Saltburn. That distinction is now held by South Bank.

Lingwood is the next station from Brundall on the Great Yarmouth line while Buckenham is the next station on the Lowestoft line.
