Ardrossan Harbour is on the Ayrshire Coast Line, which is one of the lines within the Strathclyde suburban rail network connecting the Ayrshire coast to Glasgow. The line has 26 stations, one of which is Milliken Park in Renfrewshire.

There is a half-hourly service from Balloch to Airdrie via Glasgow Queen Street and Singer from Monday to Saturday; these services run non-stop from Dumbarton East to Dalmuir.

Another station designed by George Townsend Andrews (1804 – 1855) for the York and North Midland Railway was Seamer. The former station house on the down (eastern) side still stands, though no longer in rail usage; it's now a private residence.

There seems to have been a connection between Malton and Church Fenton stations in the 1900s, with two people moving from the latter to the former as Station Master. The two were George Henry Stephenson (at Malton between 1900 and 1902) and G W Laidler (at Malton between 1902 and possibly approximately 1923).
