Hinton Admiral is also a station where the platforms are able to accommodate trains of up to five coaches, meaning that longer trains only open the doors in the first four or five coaches depending on the type of unit operating the service.

The overline elevated signal box at Wylam, once a popular design for the line, is now almost unique, with the only other surviving signal box of this design located at Hexham.

Ramsgate station is thought to have been designed by James Robb Scott (1882 – 1965) who became the Chief Architect of the Southern Railway. Another of the stations that he was responsible for is Wimbledon Chase.

Redar East is one of the stations on what might be described as the "Southern" part of the Tyne Valley Line; Shildon is on the "Northern" part of the line.

I don't want to throw a spanner in the works, but isn't the Tyne Valley line that between Newcastle and Carlisle? I thought the one here alluded to might perhaps be the Teesside, or Bishop Line?
