Birchwood is another station where (under normal circumstances) the majority of services are provided by Northern, with a few departures each day operated by EMR.
One of the many redesigns of London Bridge station was in the 1860s, under the direction of the London Brighton and South Coast Railway's Chief Engineer Fredrick Banister. A much smaller station which he designed was Ryde Pier Head in 1880.
Jewellery Quarter station was also opened in September 1995 as part of the Jewellery Line scheme to reopen the line between Smethwick and Birmingham Snow Hill.
