Swinton (Manchester) also is an island platform station that still retains its original platform canopy that is supported by cast-iron columns.

Although the station is in the City of Salford, rather than the City of Manchester, the name "Swinton (Manchester)" is used by National Rail to refer to the station. This is to avoid confusion with Swinton station in South Yorkshire.

Trains for Morecombe pass through Lancaster; on their way, they call at Bare Lane.

To a casual observer, Bare Lane has the appearance of a conventional two-platform station on a double track railway.
In reality, there are effectively two parallel single tracks here.
Trains arrive and depart on either platform in both directions and one platform is used more frequently than the other.
The same situation is also in place at Glenrothes with Thornton.

I say a station and the person below would say another station that has something in common with it. It doesn't have to be unique, but try and make it as different as possible and please ensure that all associations are rail related: a separate game exists for non rail related links.

Mallaig is the destination of The Jacobite, which is operated by West Coast Railways from Fort William to there from May to October. The Cambrian was another West Coast Railways operated steam hauled service which ran from Machynlleth to Porthmadog or Pwllheli between 2007 and 2009.

When you take the TfW service from Pwllheli to Birmingham New Street, the journey time is approximately 5 hours. Edinburgh Waverley is also approx 5 hours from Birmingham New Street, on the CrossCountry route via Newcastle.
