Wainfleet is also the second from last station, where most trains stop, on the way to a seaside resort.

Another station with a fruit tree for its name is Appledore which,according to Google, comes from the Old English apuldre (meaning apple tree)

Shoeburyness is another station that once had through services operated by the District Railway (now the LUL District Line) to/from London.

Islip is also on the route that used to be informally known as the Varsity Line. Though the two stations currently do not share a rail service.
