Water Orton is another of the very few British railway stations to suffer damage by the weather system known as a tornado...... (Nothing to do with 60163 Tornado)

I can give you a very long story about tornadoes in relation to my life - and yet, in spite of it being one of my life-long ambitions, I've never seen one. I've had a few near-misses, the most recent of which was just a couple of days ago

I'll explain via PM if interested. If I post it here it will be far too long!

Anyway, Ardwick is also the first station out of a major city when heading on one particular eastern alignment.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Newstead opened in the same year (1993).

Young gentleman....you flatter my age referring to 1993,,,,,,:D

Adwick. was opened in 1866 by the West Riding and Grimsby Railway
Ardwick was opened in 1842 by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway

However, you did go to the trouble of naming Newstead, so I will say that...
.

Langwith-Whaley Thorns
is also a station on the Robin Hood Line.

Kempton Park is another SWT station that has seen an increase in services stopping there in recent times. (The difference being that the entire WEML has had an increase, whereas in Kempton Park's case it's a matter of stopping services there even when there are no races.)
