Wakefield Kirkgate also was opened by the Manchester and Leeds Railway in 1840.

Kirkgate is an example of a "larger" (i.e. it has more platforms) but quieter station in a fairly small city that has two stations. Worcester Shrub Hill is another.

Edge Hill is also a Grade II listed railway station.

There used to be through carriages from London Euston to Southport, detached from the main London-Liverpool train at Edge Hill, and worked round to Southport avoiding the terminus at Lime Street.

In the same way, there used to be through carriages from London Kings Cross to Bradford Exchange, worked-round to Bradford via Ardsley and Morley High, and avoiding the terminus at Leeds Central.

These were detached/attached at Wakefield Westgate.

Both Baillieston and Whifflet were opened in 1866 by the Caledonian Railway and are both on the Whifflet line.
