The station building at Wemyss Bay was designed by the Scottish architect James Miller FRSE FRIBA FRIAS RSA (1860 – 1947) in 1903 for the Caledonian Railway and is remarkable in its use of glass and steel curves. Fort Matilda was also designed by James Miller for the Caledonian Railway, and lies at the far western edge of the town of Greenock. Although now a non-staffed station, in 2011 the station building was taken over by the Greenock & District Model Railway Club, which obtained necessary approvals and funding from the Railway Heritage Trust and the Stations Community Regeneration Fund for conservation work and improvements to make the building into a clubhouse.

Malden Manor is another DfT category E station in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Malden Manor station was built in the concrete style of the 1930s; it was designed by James Robb Scott (1882 – 1965), who was the Chief Architect of the Southern Railway. He was also responsible for the design (amongst many others) of Durrington-on-Sea station.
