Not sure that this is valid as the present Forres station only dates from 2017.The station was built by the Sutherland and Caithness Railway(S&CR) and was designed by Murdoch Paterson, the Chief Engineer of the Highland Railway. It opened on 28th July 1874, when the Highland Railway absorbed the S&CR and operated the newly completed line from Helmsdale to Thurso and Wick. Another station designed by Murdoch Paterson was at Forres Junction.
The above extract from the rules of this quiz is one worth noting.Note that you should only reply with a station on the main BR network (e.g. not Underground or Preserved Railway) that is still open.
