The original station buildings at Nutfield were similar in style to those at Sandling Junction (now just called Sandling), although no footbridge was provided at Nutfield. The buildings at the former were demolished in the late 1960s, although those at the latter are still in use for railway purposes.

Atherton originally opened as "Atherton Central" to disassociate itself from (now-closed) Atherton Bag Lane. Shrewsbury was also originally known as "Shrewsbury General" to disassociate itself from (also closed) Shrewsbury Abbey station.

Cromer is one of only two former Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway stations to remain operational on the National Rail network; the other is the neighbouring West Runton.

Until closure of the line from Southport to Crossens, Meols Cop was served by regular third-rail electric trains.

Another station which has experienced dismantling of its third-rail electrification infrastructure is Manchester Victoria.

Pre pandemic Havenhouse was reported to be the least used station in Lincolnshire. At the same time the least used station in Kent was Swale.
