The station at Bognor was renamed 'Bognor Regis' by the Southern Railway in 1930 as the town was renamed as such having been the place of King George V's recuperation from serious illness. The name of Rowley Regis station also reflects a royal connection, although the town acquired it's new name in the 12th Century, well before the railways arrived!

Frinton-on-Sea is also a DfT category "E" station that was opened in 1867.

In 1929, the LNER introduced luxurious Pullman day excursion trips from Liverpool Street to various seaside resorts. The service known as the Eastern Belle served Felixtowe on Mondays, Frinton and Walton-on-Naze on Tuesdays, Clacton on Wednesdays, and Thorpeness and Aldeburgh on Thursdays and Fridays. The service ended in September 1939 at the outset of the Second World War.
