Taking the association between Cressing and Perranwell as being only "has a single platform", and Perranwell and Aber as "DfT Category F2" . . . .

Rice Lane was also known by a different name when originally opened.

Langwathby is another former closed station that was reopened in 1986.

Thomas Wakefield was the Station Master at Langwathby between 1884 and 1890, and afterwards the Station Master at Lazonby & Kirkoswald between 1890 and 1897.

Armathwaite was also opened in 1876 by the Midland Railway to the "Derby Gothic" design of the architect John Holloway Sanders.

During 2016 & 2017 Armathwaite was the temporary northern terminus of the Settle & Carlisle line, following a serious landslip north of the station, with a bus connection between there and Carlisle.

Before it was extended to Armathwaite, the temporarily-shortened train service from Leeds had terminated at Appleby.

Two of the Station Masters at Appleby held the same post at Kirby Stephen at different times. Thomas Moss was at Appleby between 1889 & 1892 and was then at Kirkby Stephen between 1892 and 1919, whereas William George Nuttall was at Kirkby Stephen between 1888 & 1892 before moving to Appleby, where he worked between 1892 and 1924.

Scenic though it is, probably time to depart from the S&C line. . . .

Kirkby Stephen formerly was given the suffix West, until closure of the town's other "East" station meant it was no-longer necessary to differentiate the two.

Another station which carried a West suffix for a time was Wellington (Shropshire) - known as Wellington - Telford West until the opening of the new station at Telford Central in 1986, after which it reverted to plain Wellington.

Aintree is also a DfT category "E" station that was opened in 1849.

Until 1968, Aintree station was known as Aintree Sefton Arms after a nearby public house. Portsmouth Arms station was also named after a pub - the "Portsmouth Arms" - which is adjacent to the station.

Umberleigh was also opened by the North Devon Railway in 1854.

Umberleigh has a car park with bicycle storage facilities, although it's fellow Tarka Line station, Copplestone, only has a car park.

Quintrell Downs is also a single-platform station with the lowest DfT category rating of F2.

According to ORR's pre-pandemic statistics, Quintrell Downs had very modest usage, with 2,412 entries and exits per year.

This is very similar to the 2,390 entries and exits in the same period at Eccles Road.

Harling Road was also opened by the Norwich and Brandon Railway in 1845.

Both Attleborough and Lakenheath stations have card and coin operated pay phones.

Acton Bridge also has no direct service to one of its adjacent stations.....Warrington Bank Quay in that instance.

Wigan Wallgate is another three-platform station where one of the three platforms sees only occasional use.

Neither Wigan Wallgate or Hag Fold stations have wheelchairs available, although the platforms at both are accessible to wheelchair users.
