London Charing Cross is also a terminus where a number of the platforms extend onto a bridge built over a major river.

I don't know how long for but I know that Cathcart Circle services go to Neilston Newton and Cathcart.
Quoted from Wikipedia: "Newton station forms part of the Argyle Line 10 km (6 mi) south east of Glasgow Central (Low Level) and is also a terminus for the Cathcart Circle (Newton branch) 16 km (10 mi) south east of Glasgow Central (High Level)."

Terminus is very loosely used there - it implies that there is no line beyond, which there is.

Okie-dokie. The name Newton is also found in the first section of Newton St Cyres, a minor station on the Tarka Line.

The modern ELR runs between Rawtenstall and Heywood. However, it has a physical connection to the national network beyond Heywood, at Castleton.
