Awesome :) What other TOCs do station adoption? And what is involved in adopting a station? Can it be any station?

Near Ashurst New Forest Station
I have said that my family would have a go at Ashurst (New Forest) given the chance! Many years ago NSE were going to use Cat D prisoners at Ford Open Prison to look after Ford, and two other stations, including I think Barnham, and get their gardens in order etc., but the Unions found out..

I don't think SWT do a station adoption thingy... Gizzy, I know northern do it.

All I have to do is fill out a questionaire, ("station health check") every two weeks :D

Ah cool. Is it for any station, or just a select few?
What are the benefits, and how often do you have to visit the station?

It's for any station you want to adopt. I was gonna adopt Enfield Lock but two people already have! So settled for Tottenham. It's bigger anyway lol.

Benefits - get in the newspaper, plus a free travel pass for your local line

Anyway, your supposed to fill out a questionaire every two weeks, just to make sure everything at the station is OK. I haven't read anywhere that you have to, but that's the idea. If you don't contact them for 3 months straight without prior notice then you won't be allowed to adopt it anymore.

:)

Is there any decent online information about Northern station adoption?
I'm quite tempted. I'd like to know what I'd have to do, which stations I could choose from, the benefits and how to apply...

Ah yes. Think I've read that before actually. Can't remember what it said, so I'll have another go lol

I was tempted to get involved with it quite a few months back, but never got round to it.

Not that I EVER get boxed for it anyway. I pay if they try and make me.
Would I be able to have Buxton? or Maybe Dove Holes?
Only problem with Dove is that we have an hourly service. So I get there, and even though it's only about 5-10mins away, I'd have to wait to get back.

If Northern own the station, you can adopt it. The only thing is if a station's already adopted you normally can't have it... although there are exceptions where a stations is adopted by more than one person.

Daniel, you should correct them for saying that you adopted a "train station" :p

I'd be quite tempted to adopt Dove Holes, or somewhere else. Plant some plants. Paint something. Steal some 156s.

The idea is to help improve your local station that you use regularly - not one several hours away. It also helps if you can spell the station too.

1 hour and a half damon. I can spell it aswell. Probably adopt staines. Then move on to trains.....Would be a hard choice..... .
