If break of journey is specifically barred on the outward portion of an Off Peak Saver Return (e.g. Condition 8A) is starting short on the outward portion still allowed?

Just want to check so incase anyone tries to query it and claims I have tried to break my journey.

Thanks

It is generally recognised that starting and ending short is classed as "breaking your journey", see condition 16 of the National Rail Conditions of Carriage.

As hairyhandedfool said, this is one of the specific reasons for barring break of journey.
