Starting short on an off peak ticket.

My friend has an off peak return ticket from Derby to Brockholes, (Penistone Line), she is returning tomorrow morning, normally she would catch the 10:23 from Brockholes, tomorrow though she really needs to go an hour earlier which brings her into the peak period if she travels from Brockholes.
Could she start her journey at Penistone 09:43 with the off peak ticket from Brockholes? If not are there any alternatives other than paying the peak fare? Thanks.

However, the ticket held is to Brockholes, and has 0930 restriction:

There is no such things as a “peak period”. Restrictions are determined by the specific ticket held. Restriction 2V is “Not valid for trains scheduled to depart after 04:29 and before 09:30.” as stated.

Contacted Northern Customer Services, they confirmed ticket would be valid to depart Penistone at 09:43.

By the restriction code on the ticket this appears to be valid.

Knowing the competence of some Northern RPIs however it may make sense to take some evidence that you did board there at that time if able to
do so. If you have a smartphone, a selfie containing the departure board and station sign (if possible) would be quite good.

Also hopefully you got it in writing from Northern.
