Hi

Could someone please tell me what salary to expect as a station assistant in the North West region? I beleive Merseyrail offer £15200 after training, this seems quite low taking into considertaion it's shift work.

Thanks

Now take a look at what any "customer service assistant" would earn in another industry! Think minimum wage!

Don't forget that this job will come with a final salary pension, and travel concessions.

Think what responsiblity a Station CSA duties include for 15K for starters at certain times of day you are in effect Station Master responsible for safety of trains passengers & fellow workers so IMO worth every penny. Comparing with other customer service assistants is like comparing chalk & chese!
IMO should go back to older rank structure ie Leading Railwayman progressing to Senior Railwayman the term CSA down grades the job to that of M&S knicker seller although I might be interested in position of bra fitter:roll: having some experience of working with tits:lol:

£15200 for a 4-day week (35hrs).

Working a Sunday (always lots of overtime) gives about an extra £80 a week, so £4000 a year additional.

So for 5 day a week = £19200 + 60% of your FS pension contributions + staff travel. Not THAT bad!! Also pretty much guaranteed a pay increase each year of around £500-£1000.

The RMT is also in industrial dispute with Merseyrail at the moment, with station staff to be balloted over pay soon.

A referendum of members has been held and has concluded with members voting to reject the company’s offer. The GGC have instructed me to carry out a ballot for strike action and action short of strike action. Therefore if you have any of these members in your branch, please could you ask them to verify their job title, their workplace and home contact details by getting in touch with the Industrial Relations department on 0207 387 4771 or the helpline on 0800 376 3706. Alternatively, email info@rmt.org.uk

could be worse... at SWT I was on £12k. in fairness Sundays were extra, but of the bad side I covered several stations and spent most of the day cleaning because of the service pattern and the supervisors being *^!*&%$!
