Well i finally start my new job as a qualified passenger driver next week. I was just wondering, as HR have been a bit blasé about it, the amount of time doing traction training etc before i go out on my own. Im moving from a different side of the industry,(on track machines),so not really sure of the timescales.

Your driver manager will be the one to ask about these things as its varies from one individual to another.

We had some qualified drivers join us in conversions during traction at my TOC as a trainee driver. They tended to spend less time than us on each conversion but I guess in depends what you are converting from as to how long you need. Based on a one driver I spoke to it was a couple of weeks of conversions then route learning for a few months and then out on his own, I remember him mentioning he thought it seemed quite dragged out.
