Might just be me but I often find it preferable to view things through Leighton station for the 'home shack factor' rather than elsewhere which may offer a better phot.
In this case it seems odd not to have gone on the other platform given the sun though :?

Nice piccies,'specially the Qatari A340-600, but what really gets me is the 159 through Staines, was it a diversion or something?

RJ, whilst full sun is nice for a photo, it's not everything. And not everyone has access to a lineside Nath.

Yes Liam, I can see that, but the line after Staines diverges, and maybe the 37s were booked to go a different way to the lineside he was at.
Well the Linside down there is a tad isolated...

Fred could've gone on the other platform to avoid shooting straight into the sun and negate any risk of bowlage.

Some nice shots there Fred, but just take some time before a train arrives to decide where you want it in your photo, compose your shot, frame it with trees or buildings, you'll be happy with the results. Just picking your camera up when the train comes and pointing the camera at it isn't well thought out

Isolated points that fact out, if there going down about 30 MPH and any shot of them coming towards you is blowed by going into the sun is abit off.
